2017 College Senior Survey – results!

The College Senior Survey (CSS), developed by the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) in 1992, is administered through the Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). The CSS focuses on a broad range of college student experiences, including

  • academic achievement and engagement
  • student-faculty interaction
  • cognitive and affective development
  • student goals and values
  • satisfaction with the college experience
  • degree aspirations and career plans
  • post-college plans

The CSS has been used to study topics such as college retention, service-learning, leadership development, and faculty mentoring, and has also been used to assess a wide variety of instructional and co-curricular practices. The CSS is typically administered to graduating seniors as an “exit” survey, either as a “stand-alone” instrument, or as a follow-up to other CIRP surveys such as the CIRP Freshman Survey.
