NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

New Second Half Semester Freezes

To support historical and trend reporting, data in key Operational Data Store (ODS) daily views is “frozen” into corresponding Census Views at important dates on the academic calendar. In prior academic years, semester-based data has had two of Freezes per term:

  • Stat Date Freezes (just after the last day students can drop a class without a W grade)
  • End of Term Freezes (about two weeks after the last day of the semester)

Beginning in the Fall of 2025 a new Second Half Semester Freeze will occur for the first time on November 4th. This Freeze will become standard in all future semesters as it captures information for classes that run only during the second half of the semester, such as many undergraduate courses in the College of Professional Studies (CPS). Similar “Second Half” freezes have existed in the Census Views for CPS Quarter programs.

CPS graduate programs will remain on a quarter-based academic calendar through the summer of 2025 and then will transition to semesters in Fall 2026. There will be a Quarter Second Half Freeze this November 12th. CPS has further information on their Graduate Semester Conversion online.
